Tarot spreads: what the positions are for
A spread is a layout with named positions. Understanding the positions matters more than memorising card keywords.

A layout is a set of questions
A tarot spread assigns each drawn card a position with a meaning — for example past, present, advice or outcome. The same card can be read differently depending on the position it lands in, so the spread is the frame that gives a reading structure.
Common spread shapes
- Single card: one position, a focused prompt for reflection.
- Three cards: often past, present and future, or situation, action, outcome.
- Celtic Cross: ten positions covering situation, influences, self and outcome.
Upright and reversed
Many traditions read a card differently when it appears reversed. That convention is a method choice, not a property of the printed card. NaYinTop's readings are saved so you can revisit them, are labelled AI-generated where AI wrote the interpretation, and are offered for entertainment and self-reflection only.
